Puyan Festival Day ۵ Report: A Global Outlook and a Tribute to a Lifetime of Artistic Work

Wednesday, 12 Azar, the fifth day of the Puyan Student Animation Festival, was dedicated in particular to broadening artists’ outlook through international works and to honoring the festival’s veteran masters.

Day 5 of the Puyan Festival: International Screenings Take the Stage

Day five of the festival kicked off from the very first hours with the strength of its international screenings. In a packed schedule, two international screenings were held simultaneously in different halls of the Faculty of Visual Arts:
  • Negarkhaneh Hall: A screening of selected works from various countries, focused on innovation in form and content.
  • Iran Hall: A screening of another collection of the world’s top animations, showcasing an unmatched diversity of styles and techniques.
This morning program was a golden opportunity to analyze new approaches and to view the world through the lens of international animators. The international screening section continued into the afternoon as well, giving audiences the chance to make the most of this global treasure trove.

Audience Discussions and a Tribute to a Master at the Puyan Festival

The middle part of the day focused on interaction and honoring veteran artists:
  • Panel discussion with audience-selected directors: One of the day’s most valuable segments was a direct conversation with the directors chosen by the audience. In this panel, the young animation creators whose works had drawn the most votes and attention answered audience questions, in an intimate setting, about their ideas, execution, and production challenges.
  • Tribute to Master Razani: A ceremony held in the middle of the day was dedicated to honoring Master Razani. This gathering, held in the Avini Hall with artists such as Mohammadreza Doostmohammadi and Arash Razani in attendance, gave students the chance to appreciate this master’s artistic legacy and learn about his influence on later generations.

Fantasy and a Wrap-Up of Day 5 of the Puyan Festival with Ali Foroutan

Day five of “Puyan” closed with two well-attended programs:
  • Student screenings: In the screening segment, student works once again had the chance to be shown, showcasing the passion and enthusiasm of the young generation.
  • Fantasy acting session: The highlight of the closing segment was the session “The Influence of Animation on Fantasy Acting,” featuring Ali Foroutan. This popular actor shared his experiences creating fantasy characters, particularly in children’s theatrical work, pointing to the importance of drawing inspiration from animation’s boundless world in acting.
With the close of its fifth day, the Puyan Festival made it clear that the smile of creativity is rooted in the heritage of the past, and has now spread its wings to fly toward a global future.
