Official Teaser for the First Puyan Festival Released: An Invitation to Watch the World of Puyan

Ahead of the launch of the first Puyan Student Animation Festival, the festival’s secretariat unveiled the Puyan Festival teaser. The teaser was directed by Hanieh Rafatikhah, with the concept developed by Hossein Moein. This short piece paints a deep, atmospheric picture of the world of “Puyan.”

The Teaser’s Visual Narrative

In this teaser, the viewer is invited into the busy, buzzing solitude of a creative mind — a room full of rough sketches, crumpled paper, and tools of the trade. Here, “Puyan” (the festival’s bony mascot), alongside the room’s longtime residents, the crows, watches over the birth of new ideas. Every visual element in this room reflects a stage in the making of a work of art: it begins with a raw, unfinished sketch, then the idea comes to life and takes its final shape.

The Metaphor of Bringing Things to Life in the Puyan Festival Teaser

Built around the festival’s visual identity, the Puyan Festival teaser is a metaphor for the process of bringing things to life through animation. From within academic spaces and lifeless lines, a world full of color and movement is born. This conceptual choice ties directly into the very nature of the art of animation itself — where still lines on paper transform into living, moving creatures. The presence of the crows alongside the festival mascot also lends the piece a semi-mysterious, enigmatic atmosphere, stirring the viewer’s curiosity. A frame from the Puyan Festival teaser

An Invitation to the Puyan Festival

This teaser is an invitation card for all students and enthusiasts. From 8 to 13 Azar, at the Fine Arts Campus of the University of Tehran, you can watch imagination and creativity collide. This short piece is a prelude to the atmosphere that audiences will experience in full during the festival’s run — a space where the line between student imagination and the professional standards of the animation industry disappears.
