Sunday, 9 Azar, Day 2 of the Puyan Festival was dominated by specialized sessions and a virtual journey into the heart of the world’s biggest studios. While day one had passed in the excitement of the opening ceremony, day two was a chance to raise the level of knowledge and technical insight among participants.
Act One: A Virtual Classroom in the Avini Hall
The most important event on the morning of Day 2 of the Puyan Festival was a specialized online session featuring Mehrdad Isvandi. This distinguished art director, who has a background working with major studios such as Disney, joined the Puyan community over the web, hosted by Babak Nekooei. The session, titled “Art Direction at Disney,” saw Isvandi share firsthand insights and experiences, opening a window onto this industry’s global standards for participants. The session proved that geographical borders don’t have to stand in the way of technical exchange.
Sweet Horror in the Gallery, and a Marathon of Screenings
Day two of “Puyan” was packed with screenings — a real marathon for animation lovers! Student and international screenings ran simultaneously from early morning until the end of the working day, across the three main venues: the Avini Hall, Iran Hall, and the Gallery. This arrangement let audiences watch the top international and domestic works in a fully academic, focused setting.
The evening segment brought a shift in mood to the campus with an exciting workshop. Alireza Moradi, a creative artist, held the specialized workshop “Designing Horror” in the Gallery. This workshop gave students a chance to learn the principles of designing frightening characters and spaces, and to test the boundaries of their creativity in a different genre. Taking part in this workshop might sound a little scary — but we know the end result is bold, fearless work!
